foul play
For more than a million years, horses have inhabited the lands called Yretsym, but over those millions of years, the horses have begun to change in ways once not thought possible. They have been greedy, split up into groups called LIGHTS, NEUTRELS, and DARKS. Each name given to each alignment accordingly so. A typical dark horses personality may differ: one may love to inflect pain, some have a devil-may-care attitude towards things, and some try to stay away from it all. Whatever the personality, they all have one thing in common: they hate lights and most neutrals. Neutrals prefer to stay the way things were back when the lands first started out, friendly to both dark and light. The lights have adapted a motto: forgive and forget. Unfortunately, the light horses just couldn't let this apply to the darks.
Why?
Chasm and his herd were the first recorded horses. It is said that his father, the creator of Yretsym, made him and his mares. The horses were good to each other, all living peacefully in one large herd of God knows how many until one foal was born. He was named after his dying father and was soon to take over the heard as the next Chasm, literally. Chasm lived for over a thousand years, the only horse recorded to have this strange power, and was said to be invincible. He was like God himself until he died, the herd handed over to his oldest son, named after him.
There are three definitions to the meaning of Chasm:
1. A deep, steep-sided opening in the earth's surface; an abyss or gorge.
2. A sudden interruption of continuity; a gap.
3. A pronounced difference of opinion, interests, or loyalty
The only one that could accordingly fit Chasm II is the third one. His loyalties did not lie with the herd. He was a troublemaker from the start, no one knows why, and once he took over, he wanted to run things his way and not the way of his father. Some horses agreed with him, being the first darks, and some did not, being the first lights. The horses that resided in between, the first neutrals, did not believe one alliance is more right or more wrong than the other and therefore aren't respected by the other alliances. Lights call themselves angels, even though they do have their dark sides to them, and try to forgive and forget. Despite the ability to apply this to the darks, they look down their noses at the neutrals.
And now enter Foul Play and watch as we indulge in our favorite sports— jealousy, betrayal, and sin.
